Evaluation Findings

The MHiPS model incorporates a robust evaluation in each state/territory of implementation, which is designed to assess quality and fidelity of implementation, and short- and long-term impact in accordance with our Theory of Change. Evaluation broadly consists of three phases:

• Phase 1 serves to gather baseline data for later comparisons and to understand early implementation outcomes and initial impact.
• Phase 2 investigates deepening engagement with the MHiPS model, enhanced collaboration within schools, across schools and with external support services, and explores whether initial impact is sustained.
• Phase 3 assesses the effect of long-term implementation on impact (whether initial impact continues to grow and whether long-term impacts emerge as anticipated) and explores barriers and facilitators for long-term sustainability.

Data Collection

Data are collected via surveys, focus groups and interviews, and can involve the MHWL, teachers, other wellbeing staff, school leadership, families and students. Evaluation requirements are carefully balanced against existing school commitments and resources.
